“Management of adult education organisations” training organised in Veles
21 June 2017

Several important management models that could bolster the professional development of managers in the field of education, presented the core of the training for “Management of adult education organisations” that took place in Veles on 20-21 June 2017.

The training was designed to help improve the managerial competencies and communication skills of the managers leading the Open Civil / Workers Universities in seven different municipalities - Skopje, Gostivar, Kumanovo, Shtip, Negotino, Prilep and Veles – and it was prepared and conducted by the expert in the field, Dr. Emir Avdagić.

Through an interactive work with the participants, Dr. Avdagić presented and discussed the basic functions of educational management, management models and strategic management of adult educational organisations (vision, mission, goals), key competencies and skills of managers, communication within a team, as well as SWOT analysis of the workers’ universities and their immediate environment.

The participants had an opportunity to develop fruitful discussion and to combine theoretical assumptions with the practical experience of their peers. As a result of the team work during the training, the participants have considered the following steps in the near future: redefinition of the adult educational organisations’ mission and vision, development of a common mission and vision of the Union of the Open Civil / Workers Universities, SWOT analysis of the work of the teams, as well as SWOT analysis of the OCWU Union.

The participants in this training course have also agreed to introduce regular monitoring of the teaching process, as well as instruments for assessment of learners’ satisfaction. Individual meetings of managers with members of the team will be organised at least once a year.

The training for “Management of adult education organisations” was organised as part of the activities of the EU-funded project “Enhancing Lifelong Learning through Modernising Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education Systems”, implemented by the British Council.
